Membership of the Fellowship

Membership to the Fellowship is open to all young people in the Methodist Church Ghana between the ages of 18yrs and 35yrs. Those above the age 35 may join as members, but are not allowed to hold any positions.

New members do serve a period of 3 months probation period during which a conscientious effort is made by the Fellowship to teach the person to accept Jesus as his /her personal Saviour, grow in maturity and be given orientation on the aims and objectives and practices of the Fellowship.

Members are enrolled at a Service of Dedication which is conducted by either the Minister or Local, Circuit, or Diocesan Officer(s). All members should be full members of the Methodist Church Ghana or admitted to be full members within one year of joining the Fellowship.

Members of the Fellowship serve as Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Committee Members, Ushers, Sunday School Teachers etc. Indeed we serve in any sphere of Church life as the Lord gives wisdom and strength knowing that we ought to bear the yoke in our youth (Lamentations 3:27)

One unique thing about the Good Shepherd M.Y.F. is its “Old Guards”. These are former members of the Fellowship who are very active in affairs of the Fellowship.

Brethren from other Christian Churches may be admitted as Associate members but would not hold an officer’s position.
