All About GOOD SHEPHERD M.Y.F.

GOOD SHEPHERD Methodist Youth Fellowship is a member of the North Kaneshie Circuit of the Accra Diocesan Methodist Youth Fellowship. Activities of the fellowship are evenly and equally coordinated to benefit all members by a team of dedicated officers who are elected for a three year term of office.

Our membership strength stands at about 200. Our programmes are basically rotational, focusing on evangelism, outreaches, Bible studies, Prayer and Fasting, Musical Explosions, Fund raising, Seminars, Workshops, Anniversary and thanksgiving services. Our overall objective is to win souls for Christ and make disciples of all nations. If you are a youth, and wish to fellowship with us, you are welcome to join us at any of our spirit filled meetings for a transformation of your life.

MOTTO & SALUTATION

The motto of the Fellowship is “WE WORK, WE WITNESS, WE WORSHIP”. After a person has been made whole in Christ, the three 'W's should reflect in the person's life - Work in His service, Witness to and for Him and Worship Him. Thus the three 'W's work towards the Apex - Christ.

The Salutation/Slogan is “WE - ONE!” indicating our oneness in Jesus Christ irrespective of social and economic background and to fulfill our Lord’s desire and prayer “that they may be one” - John 17:11.

THE M.Y.F. BADGE

Rev. Charles D. Kittoe designed the Badge of the MYF upon an order by the British Methodist Conference. The Rev. Kittoe also recommended the motto of the Fellowship, which is a summary of the Fellowship’s Aims and Objectives. The Fellowship adopted it. The Badge has the following message:

1. Round Shape

This signifies the World and the Supreme mission of God and all Christian Youth.

2. The Blue Colour

This is the colour of the Methodist Church and signifies the bright sky.

3. The Yellow Colour

This stands for the rich and endowed land of Ghana, and also the heavenly treasure we are all craving for

4. The Shell

This signifies God the Father protecting all of us as the oyster is protected by its shell. It also signifies the Worldwide Methodist family.

5. The Line under the Shell

This is a Chain of brotherhood that links all members of the Fellowship all over the World.

6. The Triangle

This stands for The Trinity [God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit]. It further reveals that Religious, Eductional and Social Development of the youth is a prerequisite to make him/her a full person in Christ.

The Badge is the embodiment of what the Fellowship is and stands for. This is why members cherish and wear it.

UNIFORM

There are three types of uniforms for the Fellowship. These are:
1. Uniform A

Brothers: White Long-Sleeved Shirt, blue-black pair of trousers, a blue-back flying tie and a pair of black shoes with wither blue-black or black socks.

Sisters: White ‘Kaba’, blue-black long slits, white head kerchief white set of earrings and necklace and black shoe.

2. Uniform B – The national M.Y.F Cloth

3. Uniform C – Either a polo or la coaste M.Y.F T-shirt

Uniform A is mostly worn for Sunday Communion Services (which happens to be the second Sunday of every month at Good Shepherd), whiles Uniform B is worn on occasions such as Anniversary celebrations. Members are expected to wear either the Uniform C (or any decent white shirt/dress) for our Monday traditional meetings. Members of the Fellowship are obliged to wear the Fellowship badge at all formal functions.

THE YOUTH ANTHEM (Composed by Morag McDonald)

1. We are the backbone of the Church of Christ,
    We are His Soldiers in the fight for life;
    Come let us follow on where He doth lead;
    Fellow, follow Jesus.
    Lads and Lasses of MYF
    Loud let victory songs resound,
We are the backbone of the Church of Christ,
    Fellow, follow Jesus.

2. We’ll light a flaring touch to show the path
And help crippled ones to find the way.
Then all the inly blind will see the road,
    See the road to Jesus.
Every foe will bow to our Lord
    While we worship ,witness, work.
We are the backbone of the Church of Christ,
    Fellow, follow Jesus.
